Gloucestershire Intervention Guidance (GIG)

The Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs (2014) indicates that Local Authorities should set out, as part of their Local Offer, the special educational provision it expects Early Years settings, schools and Post-16 providers to provide from within their own budgets. “Local authorities must publish a Local Offer, setting out in one place information about provision they expect to be available across education, health and social care for children and young people in their area who have SEN or are disabled, including those who do not have Education, Health and Care [EHC] plans.” This guidance aims to help educational settings in Gloucestershire meet the needs of children and young people with special educational needs. It should be used by Early Years settings, schools and Post-16 settings as a reference document to guide their practice.
