Gloucestershire’s Educational Psychology Service is a team of professional applied psychologists who provide psychological advice and support through a consultation model to schools, families and children within the framework of the Code of Practice for SEND.

news

Our psychologists work at all levels within educational settings: supporting whole school projects, staff training and coaching, group and individual support work with children, as well as the assessment of the needs of children with SEND.

We work with schools to support children’s learning, development and emotional well-being.

Each maintained school and academy in Gloucestershire has an allocated EP and schools are invited to take out a subscription with our traded service every academic year to complete a range of work within their setting.

A core element of our work s in providing Psychological Advice as part of the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment process for the Local Authority.  For every statutory assessment the Local Authority has a duty to request Psychological Advice from one of our Local Authority Educational Psychologists.

We are based in three area teams (Cheltenham and Tewkesbury, Gloucester and Forest and Stroud and Cotswolds) and work closely with other Local Authority support services including the Advisory Teaching Service.  We have close links with professionals working in Social Care, and Health.

If parents or carers would like involvement from an Educational Psychologist it is best in the first instance to talk this through with your school’s Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
