HAF Cookbook

Providing a healthy, nutritious meal for your child(ren) on a tight budget can be both daunting and challenging for anyone. Below is a useful set of resources to help with this.

Knowing what to feed the family can be difficult, without the added pressure of making sure the meal is nutritious and satisfying. The Eatwell Guide shows how much of what we eat overall should come from each food group to achieve a healthy, balanced diet. Remember, you do not have to achieve this balance at each meal, focus on the whole day of eating overall.

Children need regular meals and snacks to get the energy (calories) and nutrients they need for growing and maintaining overall health. Children’s nutritional needs change as they get older, so it is important to be aware of these changes. This Healthy Eating for Children Food Fact Sheet will help make sure your child is eating the right food, however old they are.
