Developing Sensory Interventions

Children and young people with sensory processing difficulties may find everyday experiences unpleasant or overwhelming. This can leave school staff feeling disempowered or anxious, especially when the young person does not respond to their attempts to help regulate. This full day workshop aims to provide up to date information in relation to emotional regulation, sensory processing, sensory interventions and therapeutic spaces.
Who is this course for? All school staff/specialist school staff
- Understand the theories behind self-regulation and sensory integration
- Understand how sensory processing is a factor in the difficulties experienced by children with ASC, attachment difficulties and those who have experienced trauma
- Be able to develop and use strategies in school to support children with identified sensory processing difficulties
