Growing up and becoming an adult is known as Preparing for Adulthood or PfA for short. There are 4 areas of PfA which are important for everyone growing up. These are:
- Education, training and employment
- Independent living
- Having friends and being part of your community
- Keeping healthy

Forwards Employment Service
Forwards have a Post 16 Pathways Advisor to provide advice and guidance for young people with SEND on their preparation for adulthood and to work closely with schools to improve the information available to young people with SEND to support their decision making. Through 1:1 support the Forwards Team maybe able to help you find the job of your dreams.
Supported Internship Programme - AIM
As part of the Forwards Employment Service, the Supported Internship Programme brings together education providers and employers in Gloucestershire to offer Young People with disabilities, aged 18-25 the opportunity to spend their last year of education in a real work setting gaining the skills they need for employment.
Going the Extra Mile (GEM) Project
GEM helps a huge range of people get into education and work, including those with a disability. By working in partnership with the local voluntary and community sector GEM are able to support you in achieving your goals.
