Food provision for special dietary requirements

We understand that some children and young people have special dietary requirements - which is why we are offering an alternative option to apply for supermarket food vouchers so that you can personally purchase the food your child can eat. To do this, you will need to fill out an application form. You will need to provide evidence of the special dietary  requirements, like a a copy of your child’s EHCP, My Plan or similar professional documents.

You will be sent a voucher for £15 per child, per week and will be able to spend the voucher at the following supermarkets:

  • Sainsbury’s
  • Tesco
  • Asda
  • Morrisons
  • Aldi

All activities accessibility information

Gloucestershire County Council has been working with the organisation Active Impact to offer training to activity providers for our summer activities we have arranged so that disabled children and young people feel welcome and included. They have also been offered training on how to work with families to understand your child(ren)’s needs and specific requirements to enable them to participate.

All activity providers will have ongoing access to email and telephone support from Active Impact to support them to welcome and include disabled children and young people throughout the HAF period.

Targeted activity offers

Along with the HAF activities already on offer, we will be providing activities exclusively aimed at SEND children and young people. These activities on the booking sites will include whether they are SEND-friendly.

Information sharing and preparation

When you are choosing an activity, get in touch with the provider if you need more information about what to expect and more details about how they can support your child.
When you complete the booking form give as much detail as you can about what the providers can do to support your child and ensure they have an enjoyable experience. If your child as a one page profile you might like to share this too. Providers might make contact beforehand to discuss your child’s needs or invite you for a pre-visit. You can also make contact and ask for this.

If a provider feels they need more time to gather information or put adjustments in place they might ask you to attend on a later date than planned or do a phased approach building up how much time your child attends. You can also request to do smaller visits if this will help your child.
