Application process

If you would like to find out more about fostering, complete our enquiry form and we’ll get in touch for an initial, informal discussion. We’ll ask you some questions and you’ll have the chance to ask any questions you may have.

You can also come and chat to us informally at one of our events.

If you decide you’d like to proceed and you meet the basic criteria, you’ll be invited to attend an information evening.

At the end of the information evening, you’ll be given an application form, which you can complete and return.

Once we receive your application form, we’ll contact you to arrange to visit you at home for an in-depth discussion.

You’ll then attend a preparatory course called Skills to Foster.

A fostering social worker will take you through an in-depth assessment that will include further home visits.

Your full application and assessment are presented to a fostering panel that approves new foster carers.
