Who are we?
The Drop Ins are a service for all adults with disabilities and illness who need help or advice about day to day life. There is no charge for this service.
We provide a safe informal environment where you can simply pop in and find out about us and other services that are available in your area.
The Drop Ins can support in a variety of ways:Provide advice guidance to support with managing finances, correspondence and housing related issues. Including homeseekers and bidding for housing.
Offer guidance to encourage healthy living and eating, providing advice to menu plan, shop to include on-line shopping.
How to remain safe in the home and in the community, offerings regular talks held in the Drop Ins delivered by local community police, fire service, neighbourhood wardens and other support services.
Promoting the countywide Keepsafe scheme and providing the necessary support to sign up to it. As the scheme works in partnership with local shops and businesses who will offer a safe place should anyone experience difficulties whilst in the community.
Encourage people to form friendships an develop social networks by taking part in activities; there is always a weekly timetable of events for people to access from ten-pin bowling, swimming, pub lunch to healthy walks and creative art classes.
Promote and encourage people to access community based amenities to include leisure, neighbourhood projects and training opportunities.
The Drop Ins can support to make referrals to the Forwards employment team who are also based in the Drop Ins and the GEM project who can provide support and advice to gain work experience, voluntary work, apprenticeships and paid work.
The team will listen and support people to problem solve any issues they may have. However it might occasions be more appropriate to sign post to other services, which could include a counselling service, P3, Green Square, local borough council, advocate service, citizens advice and the police to name a few. All of whom have a good working partnership with the Drop Ins.
