About Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service is an integral part of the county council’s community safety directorate which incorporates other community safety related services such as Trading Standards, and Coroners. The fire services revenue budget for 2023/24 is approximately £20.6 million.
The service has 21 community fire stations with 33 fire engines strategically located across Gloucestershire.
The service currently has 186 wholetime firefighters,190 on-call firefighters, 21control staff and 52 support staff. Our focus on prevention, protection and response is carefully balanced to ensure our high standard of service delivery.
Our service aims are set out in the Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service strategy which is supported by strategic priority delivery plans including the Community Risk Management Plan.
Gloucestershire is a diverse county covering 1,024 square miles and hosting a population of approximately 645,000. The county is divided into six districts:- Gloucester, Cheltenham, Forest of Dean, Tewkesbury, Cotswolds and Stroud.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service currently operates 10 wholetime shifts per week, comprising a day shift and a night shift at each of its five wholetime locations (Stroud, Gloucester North, Gloucester South, Cheltenham West and Cheltenham East).
