Safety for consumers

Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service work closely with Gloucestershire County Council Trading Standards, Adult Social Care and Gloucestershire Police helping to protect and support vulnerable adults who are often made victims of ‘scams’ and criminal doorstep traders.

We also help raise public awareness around the issue of ‘unsafe’ or dangerous goods sold on the open market, which when not properly designed to contain adequate safety measures can often lead to serious injuries or fires in the home.

Work is carried out to remove unsafe goods from the marketplace wherever possible and warn consumers where certain items may present a significant safety risk (‘white’ goods safety checker).
