Cheltenham Library Comic Con
Come one, come all, to a day of characters, comics and cosplay. Cheltenham Library is hosting a Comic Convention to bring together local artists and vendors who share a love for everything hand drawn. The convention will be on Sunday 25 August from 11am - 4pm, and is free and open to all ages.

To add to the fun of the day the library are encouraging people to come in Cosplay (dressed up as a favourite fictional character from a comic, TV or film series).
There will be lots of different events going on during the day. Artists and vendors are going to be setting up stalls, a comic book drawing workshop, a storytelling session and a comic poetry workshop. There will also be panels featuring special guest artists Marc Ellerby, illustrator of the 'Rick & Morty' comic series, Rachael Smith illustrator for the 'Doctor Who' comic series and Dan Berry writer and artist of graphic novels such as 'The Suitcase', 'Carry Me' and 'The Three Rooms in Valerie's Head'. Big Punch Studios (a collective of local comic artists) and cosplay group Iconic legends will also be at the convention.
Cheltenham Library isn’t usually open on a Sunday, but will open for the day to allow all these exciting things happen. The Comic Convention will be a great opportunity to browse artists work, buy some memorabilia and talk to artists and other people about comics.
Head of Libraries and Registration Service, Jane Everiss, said: “This is a new event for us and we are looking forward to welcoming artists and illustrators into Cheltenham Library for this August Bank Holiday Sunday extravaganza - we have had so much interest in the event”
Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member for Libraries said: “Libraries provide a central hub in the community, so it is important that they are a vibrant and welcoming place for everyone. This event sounds very exciting and we think it will attract a whole new audience to our library.”
