A40 Charlton Kings speed reduction work in progress

Published
19.04.2017

Work to reduce speeds from 40 to 30mph on the A40 near Charlton Kings has begun, following a resident consultation.

news

The 40mph limit that begins near Glenfall Way and ends just east of Woodgate Close will become 30mph as of next month.

Changes include building three new traffic islands to slow traffic, as well as alterations to road signs and painted lines to bring the new lower speed limit into effect.

During the work, the road will remain open with temporary traffic lights until the 27th April. It will then be closed from 2nd - 16th May, between 9.30am-4pm, so that the final stages of construction can go ahead safely.

For traffic approaching from the east the diversion route will be right at the A435, left at A436 (Seven Springs) then left back onto A40, and vice versa.
