Microsurfacing improvement work now underway at The Richmonds, Abbeydale
The Richmonds, Abbeydale in Gloucester is first of 14 streets to receive a microsurfacing facelift this spring.
Work is due to finish this Saturday if weather conditions remain dry. The road will be closed to traffic between 7am and 7pm for this to be carried out safely.
Meerstone Way in Abbeydale is up next on the schedule. The full list of roads in the microsurfacing programme can be found on the council’s website www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/roadmaintenance
Work is weather dependent, and so the schedule is subject to change at short notice. Progress updates are being posted on Twitter @GlosRoads
Mark Darlow-Joy, lead commissioner for highways at Gloucestershire County Council said: “Microsurfacing is a cost effective solution for resurfacing roads showing early signs of wear and tear. It fills in all the cracks, potholes and voids in the carriageway, improves skid resistance and seals the road preventing water getting into the road and extending its life.
“Work can often be carried out much more quickly than a full resurfacing scheme; however it is highly dependent on dry weather conditions. This makes it difficult to predict exact start dates for each road; however every effort will be made to communicate with residents.”
