Podcasts will help keep you and your family healthy
A series of new podcasts has been launched to help parents and children be healthy.
Gloucestershire County Council and its One Gloucestershire NHS partners have joined forces with the founder of Cheltenham Maman, Kate Starkey, mum of three and winner of Social Media Influencer of the year 2018, to help parents navigate the minefield of health when it comes to having a healthy family.
Cheltenham Maman produces blogs and podcasts aimed at supporting mums across the county and beyond.
The good mum bad mum podcast: the healthy family series, covers everything from pregnancy to the school years. Kate starts the first of seven podcasts by talking about pregnancy and speaks to two midwives from the maternity unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital about how mums and their families can have a positive experience before and after birth. They talk about topics such as nutrition, exercise and preparing for parenthood, as well as where both mums and dads can get support.
Cllr Tim Harman, cabinet member for public health at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Sometimes the amount of knowledge you are given as a new parent about how to keep you and your family healthy can be overwhelming.
“This series is a great way of helping mums and dads get all the information they need in a way that they can digest in their own time and without having to see a number of medical professionals.
“Keeping you and your family healthy from pregnancy through to early years is always a parent’s number one priority and we want to help parents in any way we can. This podcast helps us give them the information they need, where they can access it and when they need it.”
Dr Hein Le Roux, Deputy Clinical Chair at NHS Gloucestershire CCG, said: “The healthy family series is a really useful way for parents to get advice from all kinds of health professionals from pregnancy through to the early years of childhood. With so much information available, it can be hard to know what’s trustworthy. With these podcasts we hope to provide some reassurance and advice about who you can turn to for support when you need it.”
The first podcast ‘Let’s talk pregnancy’ is available online now.
