Summer resurfacing road closure in Quedgeley

This story is an archived story from August 2017

Field Court Drive in Quedgeley will be closed for resurfacing between 14th and 29th August. The road will be reopened at weekends, evenings after 5:30pm, and the August bank holiday.

The road, which is a main route through Quedgeley, has reached the end of its life expectancy and needs a new surface. Crews will be using approximately 882 tonnes of material.

The scheme will take place on weekdays from 14 to 29 August between 7:30am and 5:30pm. Crews will be working in a number of different sections along the stretch of road, so it will be closed in different places for slightly shorter times. This will help limit disruption to residents who rely on this route for access.

The 12 bus route will not be picking up passengers from stops on Field Court Drive during this work. Please check for details of the diversions and other stops nearby.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, “We want to take advantage of the summer break and resurface this important road without disrupting the school run. Thank you for your patience while this work takes place.”

Cllr Mark Hawthorne, local county councillor for Quedgeley, said, “Residents will know more convenient alternative routes around Quedgeley, so if you normally drive in and out of this area please plan your route around the closed road.”

A diversion will be in place via Bristol Road and Severn Vale Drive, and this is suitable for all vehicles including HGVs.
