Improvement works will be carried out on roads in Cheltenham next week as part of the county council’s £150 million investment into your highways.

The A40 Lansdown Road (Gordon Lamp) and Montpellier Roundabout will be closed overnight from 23 to 27 August, 8pm to 6am, while work takes place. It will include improvements to the road surface, new signs and alterations to the road markings.

Prestbury Roundabout, off Pittville Circus Road, will also be closed on 24 August from 10pm to 5am so new road markings can be installed.

The scheme has been developed following a review of road collisions in the area, with the aim of improving safety for road users.

An official diversion route will be in place, which will be signposted. Residents have been given advance notice by letter and should check any changes to bus routes with Stagecoach. Motorists are kindly asked to follow the diversion as there will be no access via the approach roads to Gordon Lamp and Montpellier.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “We are committed to making improvements like this as part of our £150 million investment in the county’s highways network. We hope the resurfacing, along with new markings and signs, will improve safety for road users and reduce collisions.

“We know the work is inconvenient but it will be done outside of peak hours to minimise any disruption and I would like to thank residents and all road users for their patience while it is carried out.”
