Safety work ensures bridge remains fit for use

Gloucestershire County Council’s highways crews will be carrying out essential maintenance work to Greenhill Drive Bridge in Gloucester between 25 and 28 February.

Greenhill Drive Bridge is a busy commuter route for motorists travelling from Tuffley to the A38 and Bristol Road. The improvement work includes replacing the bridge deck joints to prevent water from seeping down and damaging the concrete of the bridge.

The maintenance work will also ensure the bridge remains fit for use for road users for many years to come. To repair the bridge as quickly as possible, there will be a 24/7 road closure in place from 7pm on 25 February until 6pm on 28 February.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “Making sure our road network is as efficient and safe for all road users is a top priority for the county council. It’s important that we ensure drivers remain safe when travelling along Greenhill Drive Bridge. I would like to thank motorists for their patience while this essential safety work is carried out.”

What’s the diversion route? (suitable for heavies)

Diversion route is via Tuffley Lane, Epney Road, and Cole Avenue.
