We’re celebrating Harry Potter Book Night in Gloucestershire!

Published

Libraries across Gloucestershire are joining Harry Potter fans across the world to celebrate the fifth annual Harry Potter Book Night on Thursday 7 February.  We’ve planned a series of fun filled events around this year’s theme of ‘Hogwarts’.

We’ll be sharing the wonder of J.K. Rowling’s unforgettable stories and, most excitingly, introducing the next generation of readers to the unparalleled magic of Harry Potter.

Libraries across the county will be hosting young wizards, witches and muggles who will be treated to magical games, readings from our favourite Harry Potter books, and the Hidden Hogwarts Quiz! The Sorting Hat will be on hand in Cheltenham and Gloucester to tell aspiring wizards and witches which house they’ll be in too.

Teddy bears are having a Potter themed sleepover at Quedgeley Library and there’s a Fantastic Beast Hunt at Tuffley Library. With a fun quiz at Dursley and art and crafts in Churchdown – we’ll definitely be sharing the Harry Potter magic!

Jane Everiss, Head of Library and Registration Services said, “We are so excited to be taking part and celebrating the fifth Harry Potter Book Night. We have always been fans of the Harry Potter books because they inspire children to read more and be enthusiastic about books. We hope new readers will discover them and existing fans will re-read them.”

Cllr Dave Norman, cabinet member for Libraries said: “This is a great opportunity to share the magic of the Harry Potter books with young readers. Our libraries have got lots of great family events planned, why not pop in and see what’s happening in your local library.”
