Cheltenham West Parking permit zones

Published
31.07.2017

The new parking permit zones in the west of Cheltenham come into operation on 1st August.

Following consultation in 2016, Gloucestershire County Council is bringing in new permit parking schemes in the Lansdown, Railway and Westend areas of Cheltenham.

Local residents and businesses who wish to park in the zones must purchase permits before that date to avoid being at risk of receiving a parking ticket (Penalty Charge Notice).

The council wants to encourage commuters who currently park in the area to think about adopting alternative travel options including car sharing, cycling, walking and public transport.

Cllr Nigel Moor, cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure, said; “These schemes are designed to increase footfall for local businesses by improving access for visitors, and to make it easier for residents to park near their homes.

“I would urge residents and businesses in these areas to purchase their permits as soon as possible if they haven’t already done so.

“I would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and understanding while we introduce the new permit zones.”
