New surface gives road a spring in its step

As part of the county council’s commitment to upgrading highways Bouncer’s Lane near Prestbury is being resurfaced.

The improvement work will see 770 tonnes of material being laid, which is equivalent to 8,555 adult Kangaroos in weight.

It will take place over two phases to keep disruption to a minimum for the residents and businesses in the area.

The first phase will be evening work between 7pm and midnight on Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th July outside Cheltenham Crematorium.

The rest of the scheme will take place during the daytime from Tuesday 25th to Monday 31st July, excluding the weekend.

This work will be done between 7am and 5:30pm.

A diversion route will be in place via Priors Road.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “These improvements to the road on Bouncer’s Lane forms part of our ongoing investment to keep our county moving.

“We appreciate there will be a small amount of disruption, however locals and commuters will all benefit from this new surface.

“I would like to thank road users and residents in advance for their patience and cooperation while our teams carry out the work.”
