Rail passengers get new Arle Court park & ride stop

A new stop on Lansdown Road is being introduced for the Arle Court park & ride service to provide convenient pedestrian access to Cheltenham Spa Railway Station.

From today, 31st July, rail passengers will be able to park their car at the Arle Court park & ride site, board the park & ride bus and get off at the new stop on Lansdown Road then, following a short 5 minute walk along Glencairn Park Road and Queen’s Road, they will be at the station.

On their return journey passengers will be able to get on the bus at the existing bus stop outside the former police headquarters.

The county council is also making additional parking spaces available at the park & ride site in the next few weeks to increase the capacity which is now around 550 cars.

The council is also looking into further expansion of parking at the site to meet demand as the popularity of the Arle Court park & ride continues to grow.

Cllr Nigel Moor, cabinet member for fire, planning and infrastructure, said; “Adding this stop to the route means that park & ride users now have affordable long stay parking with easy access to the railway station.

“Arle Court park & ride has always offered convenient parking and good value fares to the town centre. Now rail passengers can plan their journey without worrying about finding a parking space by the station.”
