Summer loving for A40 drains and gullies

Published

Maintenance work around Cheltenham’s Arle Court and Benhall roundabouts will begin next week.

Highways crews will be blasting away any build-up and blockages in drainage holes and gulleys on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th June.

Work will take place around Cheltenham’s Arle Court and Benhall Roundabouts.  A thorough jet clean will mean standing water can drain freely and doesn’t collect on the road.

Lane closures will be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm, avoiding peak travel times.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flooding, said: “Even with this week’s high temperatures and dry weather, we need to prepare for wet weather later in the year. Work like this helps to make sure our drains and gullies are clear to prevent surface flooding, and are an important part of our annual maintenance.”
