With road repairs currently underway along the A4173, Gigaclear will lay new ducting while the road is already dug up to create essential rural broadband connections.

Fourteen new internet crossing points are being laid by Gigaclear on the route.  To stay ahead of the new road surface being laid, Gigaclear will be working an additional day on Saturday 5th May.

During these works it will be necessary to close the road to traffic between Edge and Whaddon, from 7am until 7pm.  Access will be managed for local residents and businesses.

Gigaclear is part of the Fastershire initiative which is bringing faster broadband to the county. Putting in these essential crossings and cables involves digging trenches across the road.

Businesses along the road such as the local pub, restaurant and farm shop will still be open as usual.

This project forms part of the county council’s £150 million promise to upgrade Gloucestershire’s roads. Highways teams are already four weeks into a six week resurfacing programme along the five mile stretch of road between Pitchcombe and Whaddon.
