A new road surface for Birdlip
The B4070 Stroud Road through Birdlip will soon benefit from a brand new surface as part of Gloucestershire County Council’s £150m investment in the county’s roads.

The work will be carried out between 9:30am and 3:30pm for four days from Tuesday 1 to Friday 4 December.
The B4070 will need to be closed between the junction with the A417 Birdlip Bypass and the junction with Buckholt Road for safety, along with a section of Birdlip Hill and Ermin Way. A signed diversion will be in place suitable for all vehicle types.
Councillor Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said: “I know that a full closure will be inconvenient, but we are doing the work outside peak hours to help minimise the disruption. This is a significant investment in a rural road and I’m sure the inconvenience will be well worth it.”
Councillor Nigel Robbins, local county councillor for Birdlip said: “I’m really pleased this scheme is going ahead. This work will smarten up the centre of the village and is most welcome. I would like to take this opportunity to remind drivers to respect the 30 mph speed limit through the village."
