Essential resurfacing for Christ Church Road, Cheltenham

Later this week, crews will be resurfacing Christ Church Road in Cheltenham as part of Gloucestershire County Council’s promise to invest £150 million into the county’s roads.

Christ Church Road will be closed for approximately 8 days (excluding weekends), from Thursday 5 November to Monday 16 November. To help keep disruption to a minimum, work will be carried out between the hours of 9:30am-15:30pm.

An official diversion route will be in place, which will be signposted and is suitable for all vehicles that would normally use the road.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said, “Improving the highways network in Gloucestershire is one of our main priorities, which is why we’ve invested £150 million into roads across the county.

“We understand that road closures can be inconvenient, but we’ve planned the work at Christ Church Road so that crews can be in and out as quickly as possible. I’d ask anyone who uses this route regularly to plan ahead for their journey, and have a look at the diversion route that has been put in place.

“I’d like to thank everyone for their patience while we carry out these works”.

What’s the diversion route?

If you usually park on the road, you will need to find alternative parking nearby during the hours of the road closure. Off-road parking will not be affected, however vehicle access will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

Unfortunately the weather can cause delays to resurfacing works, so please keep up to date with the latest information by following @GlosRoads on Twitter or checking our resurfacing webpage.
