The popular road in Cheltenham has deteriorated over time and therefore requires repairing. Hyde Lane will be closed between Friday 2 November to Thursday 15 November (excluding Saturday and Sunday) between the hours of 7am – 7pm.

A diversion suitable for all type of vehicles will be in place. Crews will complete vital resurfacing across 8,010m² of road with approximately 945 tonnes of material.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood, said: “We have scheduled this popular route for resurfacing as part of the council’s ongoing £150 million investment. These vital improvements will create a smooth and pothole free journey for all road users. I would like to thank local residents for their patience while the work is carried out.”

Cllr Bernard Fisher, county councillor for St Paul’s and Swindon, said: “Hyde Lane is a busy commuter route and the resurfacing will have a significant benefit to the local community here in Swindon Village. I’ve been calling on the county council to complete this work for some time, so I welcome these improvements and ask that residents and road users please bear with the highways team while they carry out this essential work.”

What’s the diversion route? (suitable for HGV’s)

Drivers should continue onto A435 Evesham Road in direction to the Racecourse. At the Racecourse roundabout take the third exit and continue along the Evesham Road. At the junction with Clarence Road turn left and then right onto Winchcombe Street. At the traffic lights turn right onto A46 Fairview Road. Continue along the A46, which then becomes the A4019, all the way to the Kingsditch roundabout. At the roundabout take the third exit in the direction of Swindon Village. Continue along Kingsditch Lane, Wymans Lane and Hyde Lane to the point of the closure.

Diversion is the same in reverse until drivers reach the A46 Fairview Road. At the junction with Portland Street, drivers should turn left and continue along the road to the traffic lights. At the traffic lights, drivers should continue straight over the junction onto the A435. Follow the A435 all the way to the junction with Hyde Lane, then turn left. Follow the road to the point of the closure.
