Update on Rydal Road, Longlevens

Following the closure of Rydal Road in Longlevens last week, Gloucestershire County Council's highways team have released an update.

The decision to close the road followed two collisions and a number of near misses which made the road unsafe.

Since the closure was put in place, officers have looked into options on how to make the route safer and have announced double yellow lines will be painted at the junction with Wellspring Road.

A Gloucestershire County Council spokesperson, said: “Following two collisions and a number of near misses, we put a closure in place on Rydal Road to prevent any further incidents.

“We’ve listened to all the comments and feedback before deciding on the next steps and we will be painting double yellow lines at points on Rydal Road and Wellspring Road this week. This will stop cars parking on the junctions and obstructing driver visibility.

“Once the double yellow lines are in place we’ll lift the closure, but closely monitor the situation.”

The road will reopen later this week when the lining has been painted and temporary traffic order raised.
