Our school
Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) provides education for all students (Reception through to the end of Year 11) who are unable to attend school for medical reasons.
GHES is a registered Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council. The aim of the service is to address inclusion and reintegration issues specific to young people with medical needs; making it possible for a child to have a seamless educational transition between hospital, home and school.
GHES works in partnership with students' registered schools to provide a flexible and balanced curriculum, which meets the need of each child while they are out of school as well as assisting in a smooth transition back to school.
Our core vision and values:
GHES strives for a seamless education between hospital, home and school.
- We provide a teaching and learning environment where learning is enjoyable and targeted at the needs of the individual
- All learners are helped to achieve in an atmosphere of high challenge, low stress
- GHES has a clear vision of 'aspiration, challenge, commitment and success' that is evident in all of work we do to support every young person we work with whilst they are too unwell to attend school
In response to COVID-19, our academic year 2020-2021 has a core ambition to 'reduce isolation' for all: students, families and staff.
