- We also have a couple of vacancies on our Management Committee:
Gloucestershire Hospital Education Service (GHES) have a vacancy on their Management Committee for a community member and their Chair, Meg Dawson (Head of Cashes Green Primary School), is also hoping to find someone to take over her role.
The Management Committee at GHES work together with the Head of Service, Beth Warren, to ensure that pupils from across the county receive the best provision to learn in an environment in which they feel happy, safe and secure whilst they are too ill to attend their main school.
Whilst the Head of Service is responsible for the day to day management of GHES, the implementation of policy and the operation of the curriculum. Members of the Management Committee have a responsibility for determining, monitoring and keeping under review, policies, plans and procedures covering the quality of education for pupils within which the school operates. GHES is a service managed by Gloucestershire County Council and the council retains ultimate accountability for the school. The main aim of the school is to raise the educational achievement of all its pupils whilst they are unwell. The Management Committee contribute most effectively to this aim by focusing on its three roles:
- To provide a strategic view of where the school is heading.
- To act as a critical friend by providing support and advice to the school.
- To hold the school to account for the educational standards it achieves and the quality of the education it provides.
The Management Committee meet five times throughout the academic year. These are held during the working day lasting no more than two hours. Anyone on a Management Committee role is entitled to time off from their employer to attend these meetings. Most of our current members work full time and manage to fit in their role around their other commitments. Members are also asked to take on particular tasks including visiting GHES and contributing to the monitoring of standards throughout, and to support with the vision, direction and policies for the school.
If you would be interested in having an informal chat about the role to find out more about how you can contribute to the work of the Management Committee at GHES, please email the Clerk, Karen Harris, with your details at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will arrange for our Chair, Meg Dawson, to contact you and arrange a time for a conversation.
Thank you - Beth Warren (Head of Service), Meg Dawson (Chair of Management Committee).
