King’s Awards for Voluntary Service
The Lieutenancy encourages Voluntary Organisations to be nominated for the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS). The Kings Award for Voluntary Service is an Award that celebrates the contribution of volunteers and regularly proves to be of immense benefit to organisations in the recruitment of volunteers and future funding.
For full details please visit see www.gov.uk/kings-award-for-voluntary-service
Nominations open on 1 September each year and close on 1 December. Nominations need to be made by someone familiar with, but not directly involved with the organisation, such as a beneficiary or funder.
Organisations deemed eligible by the KAVS Committee are notified in January that they have been selected for nomination and that they will be assessed by representatives from the Lieutenancy.
Each year, a list of approximately 250 successful organisations is announced to coincide with His Majesty The King’s Birthday on 14 November. Coordination and presentation of the Awards are made by the Lieutenancy the following Spring.
Those considering making a nomination are very welcome to discuss the process with the Lord-Lieutenant. Please contact the Lieutenancy Office via email on edward.gillespie@gloucestershire.gov.uk
