Kings Award for Voluntary Service (Gloucestershire) Recipients 2024

On 14 November 2024, HM The King's Birthday, it was announced that the following Gloucestershire recipients were awarded with the Kings Award for Voluntary Service Office from a total of 281 volunteer groups from across the UK.
- Dean Trail Volunteers - Forest of Dean Cycle Centre, Coleford, Gloucestershire. Awarded for the building of safe, inclusive, recreational mountain bike trails for recreation in the Forest of Dean.
- Cheltenham Welcomes Refugees - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Awarded for welcoming & supporting refugee families & asylum seekers raising local awareness of issues they face.
- Cirencester Signpost - Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Awarded in accordance with Christian principles and the relief of poverty for those in need in Cirencester.
- Almondsbury Community Shop Association - Lower Almondsbury, Gloucestershire. Awarded for providing an accessible volunteer led and managed village shop and associated community services.
In recognition of the millions of people across the UK who make a difference to society from their volunteering work, examples of this outstanding work are celebrated each year through the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).
Equivalent to an MBE, the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) is the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK.
