GSCP Safeguarding Children Training Update

Development of a new training platform and training Curriculum

Following the first covid-19 lockdown in mid-March 2020 when we were forced to cancel all of our face to face inter-agency training; we have now built a new training platform and have been successfully running a range of courses since the summer months.

In addition, we have developed a new approach to training which moves away from a culture of ‘tick box’ training towards a ‘curriculum of learning approach’, based on the premise of Continual Professional Development. The foundation of this is the new training platform, which offers easy access to a range of blended learning resources:

  • thematic e- learning courses
  • trainer led virtual courses i.e. Child Protection Interagency (level 3)
  • self-directed learning through pre-reading and skills tests
  • practice briefings
  • links to key local and national guidance, protocols and procedures
  • live and recorded webinars on local learning

This approach requires practitioners to be continually updating their knowledge and skills and to build-up their own portfolio or passport of continuous learning and to log their CPD hours achieved.

Please continue to browse our library of current courses, new courses will be added every month. (See below for information on those agencies and organisations currently enrolled on the system).
