GSCP Training Offer

The GSCP training is open to all statutory agencies, i.e. GCC Children or Adult services, Police, NHS Health Trusts, Early Years, Schools, Colleges, Private, Voluntary, Independent organisations and Local District Councils. If you currently work as a member of staff as a paid employee and practitioner, elected member, Governor, DSL, frontline worker or volunteer and as part of your job role you work with children young people and / or their families we can offer a range of blended learning courses and events to meet your safeguarding responsibilities in respect of your job role.

As part of the training pathway we recommend staff complete the Safeguarding Children Core eLearning courses on our site (for examples see below) as a first priority; this is particularly relevant for staff that are new to safeguarding or need a refresher / reminder.

GSCP core Safeguarding Children eLearning courses.

  • Safeguarding Children in Education (Level 1) Induction (For Education settings)
  • Safeguarding Children (Level 1) Induction (Generic)
  • Safeguarding Children (Level 2) Advanced e-learning replaces in-house single agency training (Generic)

You may then move onto the themed eLearning courses to enhance your knowledge and skills, as part of your on-going learning as directed by your organisations management team. We have a full range of themed eLearning courses, linked to the priorities of the Partnership.

Completing these courses will form part of your continual professional development (CPD) requirements over the next 3 years.

*If you have specific safeguarding responsibilities as part of your job role you will then need to move onto the next level of training delivered as virtual ‘live’ courses i.e. CPIA (level 3) and the themed virtual courses - see below.

 Virtual (Tutor led) Live Training Courses:

All of our tutor led virtual courses are delivered on the Big Blue Button – links to these classrooms are sent by the GSCP training team once your booking has been confirmed.

The Child Protection Inter-Agency Level 3 (CPIA) is delivered as a virtual live course and is a core requirement for all staff with safeguarding responsibilities and/ or Designated Safeguarding Leads / Managers / Trustee’s / Frontline workers or as directed by your organisation:

  • Please undertake the pre-course reading (training handbook) before attending the virtual Event and complete the short set of tasks; the reading will contribute to your CDP and safeguarding children (SGC) learning requirement and enrich your experience of the session itself.
  • This 3 ½ hour virtual (Event) is led by an experienced child protection trainer and is an opportunity to learn together with other practitioners, to ask questions and be tested on safeguarding knowledge and skills.
  • Access to the pre-reading training handbook’ is automatically given once you have chosen the date of your course and your booking has been confirmed.
  • The handbook is an on-line document which directs the learner to current safeguarding children research, local policies and procedures, local assessment tools and webinars. As this is a live document which offers ease of access to current safeguarding children local and National guidelines, it can be used as an on-going reference tool.
  • Certificates can be printed off following completion of these courses and a record of completion will be held on the system under the learners own login details.
  • CPIA courses book up quickly however demand for courses is monitored weekly and new course dates are continuously added.

We also recommend our other themed courses;
