Direct payments - policy and procedures
We provide a wide range of services to people. One of these services is called Direct Payments.
Apply for Direct Payments, find a provider or view the guides.
The purpose of the Direct Payments policy is to provide guidance for Adult Social Care staff in the management and administration of setting up direct payment arrangements.
Through Direct Payments people can receive money with which to
- arrange their own domiciliary care
- employ their own personal assistant, or
- to buy a service that meets their assessed needs.
This means that they get control of the money and the care package and this gives them an incentive to make sure the money is spent properly on services they really need. The aim of Direct Payments is to increase opportunities for independence, social inclusion and enhanced self-esteem.
