Intimate Personal Care and Clinical Tasks Policy (April 2010 Revised May 2011)
This policy combines the 'Intimate Personal Care' and 'Clinical Tasks' policies into one document to emphasise what tasks care staff would routinely be expected to perform as part of their normal duties and those tasks which may have historically been seen as the role of health but which, with additional training and specific written procedures, may be performed by care staff.
Other tasks, e.g. tasks that are invasive or require interpretation, still remain within the remit of health and these are listed in the policy.
Examples of competencies can be downloaded below.
The old guidance on toe nail cutting has been revised and incorporated into the document.
