Medication Policy and Related Standards and Guidance for Reablement, Senior Reablement, Community Care Workers and Health Care Assistants
The underlying principle of the Medication Policy is that service users should be encouraged, following a suitable risk assessment, to retain, control and administer their own medication in order to maximise their independence and retain control over their own lives.
In practice, some adults and young people will need help with their medication so the Medication Policy seeks to outline the procedures that need to be followed. The policy includes details of training, recording, administration details, supply, storage, disposal and how to manage errors.
