Carers Partnership Board
Definition / scope
- A carer is: Somebody, of any age, who provides support or who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of frailty, physical or mental illness, or disability.
- A parent carer is: Somebody over the age of 18 who has a child with any disability, Special Educational Needs, long term health condition, impairment or additional need aged 0-25.
- A Young Carers is: Under the age of 18 who provides regular or ongoing care and/or emotional support to a family member. A Young Adult Carer is aged 16 to 24.
This Board supports all (unpaid) Carers – this does not include (paid) Care Workers who are employed to support those with needs in the community, care homes or peoples own homes, as there are other forums who provide this.
