The Blue Badge Scheme

The Blue Badge scheme provides people who have disabilities and eligible conditions with a badge to place in their car which allows them to park in more accessible locations.

Here you will find information about the scheme, details of how to apply and information about similar and related services that may also support those interested in Blue Badges.

Please note: We are aware that the postal service is experiencing delivery delays, which has effected the delivery schedule of Blue Badges. Whilst most will be delivered within 7-10 days, please allow up to 21 days from the time your application is confirmed and the badge is ordered.

Organisations can be eligible for Blue Badges as well as individuals. An organisation may be eligible for one or multiple Blue Badges if they:

  • Care for or assist people who need a Blue Badge, and;
  • Transport people who need a Blue Badge.

Gloucestershire County Council is responsible for assessing whether organisations within our County are eligible for their own badges rather than using the individual badges of the people they support are transporting.

To be eligible, the organisation should be focused on supporting those who would usually require a Blue Badge, for example: Care homes or hospices may commonly require a Blue Badge when transporting clients, whereas a taxi service or private hire vehicle could use the Blue Badge of the individual if it were required for a specific journey but would not require a badge for the majority of their work.
