GIS - Community Equipment

GIS - Community Equipment supplies a huge range of medical aids and equipment to individuals in the community and residential / nursing homes.

What we do

The Community Equipment Service loans equipment for Gloucestershire residents to help individuals remain in their own home, achieving and maintaining independence and to support carers.

The service is funded by Gloucestershire County Council and local NHS partners and equipment is provided through the Gloucestershire County Council Community Equipment Service.

Equipment will be supplied following an assessment of your needs by a Healthcare Professional. Once your Healthcare Professional has submitted your order, the transport team will be in contact to arrange the delivery and fitting of your equipment.

The service supplies equipment, such as:

  • beds;
  • hoists;
  • shower chairs;
  • walking frames; etc.

to those who have been assessed as needing them.

Delivery of your equipment will be arranged around you or your support network’s availability.

Using equipment

Hoists, beds, bath lifts and air mattresses are covered by a breakdown and servicing contract and are serviced regularly. Slings issued with hoists should be made available for inspection by the service.

Before using electrical equipment, please check plugs and wiring are not frayed or damaged.
