Social Care Information and Learning Services (Scils Resources)

Learning materials for those working with service users with Dementia

Social Care Information and Learning Services (Scils) have produced learning materials specifically for working with service users with Dementia. The titles of the materials available are "Defining Dementia" and "Dementia and Confusion - How to respond". The learning materials are available for download and can be used while either on a computer or in hard copy format for people who do not have access to a computer. Online evidence booklets have been produced to enable learners to submit answers electronically to their manager/trainer for guidance and assessment.

There are currently over 200 topics on the Scils website (www.scils.co.ukOpens new window)  and Gloucestershire County Council provides free access to all the learning materials and facilities which are available to partner organisations within Gloucestershire. Email Dementiatraining@gloucestershire.gov.uk or contact the Dementia Administrator by telephone on 01452 324306 for access information.

You can also find dementia resource information on the SCIE website: Getting to know the person with dementia
