Coronavirus update

Gloucestershire County Council are closing Gloucestershire Archives @ the Heritage Hub from Monday 23 March until further notice, due to the current issues relating to Covid-19.

Gloucestershire Family History Society @ the Heritage Hub has also closed their service until further notice.

Every effort will be made to continue offering essential services such as access to records for legal reasons.  Similarly, the Registration Service will continue to run a copy certificates service from the site.

Look out for updates from the archives on social media and online.  If you have a few minutes you might like to #ExploreYourArchiveAtHome.  You can search our collections online or browse or contribute to our online mapping resource Know Your Place

We look forward to welcoming back our customers, volunteers, partners and friends in due course.

Class or group visit

How to get the most out of a group visit to the archives.

We offer a tour of our public research room (where people can look at historic documents) and strongrooms (where our collections are stored in climate controlled conditions).

Tours are open to people of all ages and scheduled as part of our events programme.  They are also offered to learning organizations and community groups as a bookable visit.  Groups can take advantage of an additional document handling session to look at archive material that their members would find interesting.

Visiting school groups can also opt for taught sessions by Archives staff and/or an accompanying tour of Gloucester Rugby Club's Kingsholm stadium, which is within easy walking distance.  The joint tour complements our Gloucester Rugby Heritage Learning ZoneOpenindow resources for primary and secondary schools.

Please contact us to arrange a visit.  Also, have a look at the risk assessment.
