Temporary Traffic Orders (Road Closures) Application

Why do I need one?

Temporary Traffic Orders are needed for any road closures, footway closures, speed restrictions, weights restrictions and no parking/no waiting orders.

How will long will it take?

The applicant must give 3 months notification to the local Authority. This allows the legal process for the road closure to be completed. We cannot grant tacit consent as there are statutory time limits to be adhered to in issuing of licences.

If the Closure is urgent you must contact the Street Works team immediately on streetworks@gloucestershire.gov.uk

How much will it cost?

The Temporary Traffic Order costs £1,320.
The fee payable is 0% VAT.

Lane Closure Application

Why do I need one?

This is for closing one lane on a multi lane highway. This may be necessary for works to take place on or next to the highway.

How long will it take?

This may vary depending on the length of works and when they are to take place. We will respond to your application within 5 working days.

How much will it cost?

There is no fee owed to Gloucestershire County Council.

Special Events Application

Why do I need one?

Any Special Events (including Street Parties) that involve closing a Street will require a legal order to be in place including event of national significance, such as the Platinum Jubilee.

This also ensures that all works on the Highways network can be coordinated effectively.

How will long will it take?

A minimum of 12 weeks is required to process the application.

How much will it cost?

Fees for Platinum Jubilee street parties have been waived.

The fee for other Special Events can vary. Please contact the Streetworks team via email detailing which Street/s will be affected, the date of the Event, and a brief description of the event to streetworks@gloucestershire.gov.uk

We will respond to your email within 5 working days.


Filming on the highway

If you are intending to film on the road you will need to receive permission from our Street works team via email - streetworks@gloucestershire.gov.uk.

Please detail which street/s will be affected, the date of the filming, and a brief description.

Please note that any filming that involves closing a street/road will require a legal order to be in place and a minimum of 12 weeks notification to process the application. The fee for can vary depending on the location and duration of the closure.
