Longlevens Junior School

The Longlevens Trial

Longlevens Junior School is situated near a busy through road, Church Road, with congestion apparent at drop-off and pick up times, with potential road safety issues. The school has already been operating informal arrangements to discourage cars on the street leading up to the entrance, The Elms. The School Streets trial proposes, by way of an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order, to legally close this street (The Elms) to most of the traffic at school opening and closing times. It is hoped that this trial will further encourage a reduction in numbers of children being driven to school and to improve air quality at peak times.

Map shown here shortly.

What is the proposed scheme?

The Elms (from its junction with Church Road) will be made a pedestrian and cycle-friendly environment from Monday – Friday between 8:15am and 9:00am and 2:45pm and 3:30pm.

Residents who live directly in the affected street (The Elms) will still have access to their properties during the closure times with a valid permit.
