Welcome from Wayne Bowcock, Chief Fire Officer
An introduction and welcome by Wayne Bowcock, Chief Fire Officer for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS).
Gloucestershire County Council Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) is providing an opportunity for the right values led leader with a keen focus on organisational development, effective governance and high performance to join our team on a challenging and rewarding journey. 2020 has been a challenging year globally and GFRS has proven its public value in the role it has played with partners to support the response to COVID-19, whilst continuing on its improvement journey. We take pride in our Council wide approach to make a positive difference to the services we provide to our communities.
GFRS has a proven track record of delivering high quality and efficient services. Modernisation in our prevention work over recent years has seen rapid and positive change, our close work with colleagues in social care, health, police and the ambulance service is testament to this. The Service has also been through some difficulty and is now entering a new phase of focussed improvement. This provides a great opportunity to help shape our future on the journey to excellence. We are self-aware and know where we need to improve and our transformation journey is well underway. We need people with drive, professionalism and high levels of integrity to help achieve our vision and to continue to deliver excellent services to our communities through a truly engaged, empowered, accountable and motivated workforce.
As a key member of the Strategic Leadership Team, it is critical that the leadership you bring complements the needs of the Team and Service, and role models the County Council’s values and highest standards of professionalism and inclusivity.
I am proud to say that GFRS staff are dedicated, committed and excited about the future of our Service. We enjoy strong support from our elected members and the County Council.
Gloucestershire is a beautiful county, a great place to live and work. It is right that you should be certain before potentially moving house and taking on the challenges this role will present. However, the rewards and fulfilment will be great for the right person. We are committed to developing exceptional leaders and supporting people to fulfil their potential. The wider County Council role provides additional challenge and opportunity for development.
If you are a forward thinking, inclusive, strategic leader who shares a passion to develop high performing individuals, teams and contribute to the wider fire transformation programme, then this opportunity could be right for you. For further information and an informal discussion to help your decision, please get in touch. October 2020.
