Roles in Community Services

The Commissioning & Brokerage team work with providers and social workers to organise care and support for individuals with an assessed health or social care need; commissioning individual placements in residential and nursing homes or packages of care for those requiring care and support to assist them to remain in their own home. The Team commission placements on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, (GCC) and Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, (GCCG).

Our aim is ensure that both GCC and GCCG are able to accurately forecast and manage care and support budgets through overseeing the processing and management of contractual information.

The Information and Communications Technology service (ICT) is responsible for the ICT Strategy and the delivery of technical and business support to staff, Members, partner organisations and many of the schools in Gloucestershire.  The ICT Service ensures users have access to a strong ICT infrastructure that is dependable and secure.  It also provides services that support flexible, mobile and efficient working in support of the council’s objectives.

Gloucestershire Libraries & Information manage 31 libraries, a mobile library which offers services to rural communities and a children’s mobile. Library services are also available via 8 community run libraries. We have a collection of 520,000 books, film and audio, including foreign language materials. The Virtual Library is accessible from home or any internet device and offers thousands of eBooks, eAudios, eMagazines and reference resources. All libraries offer free access to computers and public WiFi.

We offer a vibrant events calendar including regular baby bounce and rhyme, story times, digital skills, library club, coding and reading well sessions, one-off author and arts events and of course the very popular Summer Reading Challenge for primary school age children. We offer volunteering opportunities in a range of roles across libraries and volunteers enhance the services on offer in our libraries.

Our aim is to support individuals and local communities to achieve their aspirations by creating a welcoming library service that provides books, information and learning opportunities in a variety of ways and in partnership with others.
