Recruitment process

The Gloucestershire County Council job page provides you with access to all externally advertised vacancies in the organisation. You can use these pages to view and apply for current vacancies.

In order to apply for vacancies, you will need to register to set-up a recruitment account, which can then be used to manage and review your application(s) to work for us.

We use a number of different approaches to recruitment, including:

  • On-line application;
  • Competency based questions;
  • Interview;
  • Assessment centres;
  • Presentations;
  • Individual and group exercises.

The specific nature of the assessment process will be dependent upon the nature of the role advertised and the specific requirements of the Recruiting Manager, who will lead on progressing their recruitment campaign, supported by our Appointments & People Sourcing Team.

If you apply to work for Gloucestershire County Council, there will be a designated contact for each advertised vacancy, usually the Recruiting Manager, and the Appointments Team can also provide assistance, via e-mail to contactus@gloucestershire.gov.uk or by telephone at 01452 425888.

In addition to advertising permanent, fixed-term and casual vacancies via the job page, we also offer opportunities to apply to join Gloucestershire County Council’s Temporary Staff Service, which offers the opportunity for individuals to apply for access to a wide range of short to medium term, temporary assignments.
