Arts Award

Arts Award is a set of awards for children and young people that get them involved in and excited about arts and culture and celebrate their achievements.

Create Gloucestershire has developed a special online version similar to the first level of Arts Award, aimed at ages 11 and under (or anyone under 25 with additional needs) to take part whenever they’d like! Create, log and get rewarded for your artwork with Discover at Home.

Discover at Home encourages children to:

  • Take part in arts activities
  • Find out more about an artist or arts organisation
  • Share their arts discoveries

Visit any Gloucestershire Library to collect a printed copy of the Discover at Home map and a log book to keep track of your children’s achievements. Some libraries may also be able to print out craft instructions for their arts activity to take home along with make-away packs. If you can’t visit the library, feel free to download the resources online and make a start with the challenges from home.

Children get an award by completing all three parts:

  • Part A: take part in creative or arts activities and discover different types of ‘art’
  • Part B: find out about at least one artist and their work
  • Part C: share with others what they enjoyed and learned through doing the award. You can share with us by uploading onto our ‘Read, make & share!’ Facebook page or tagging us on Instagram @gloucestershire_libraries – Good luck!

Once completed, If you’d like a certificate you will need to register online with Create Gloucestershire in order to get a physical award and make a payment of £6 to cover the costs of your official certificate and postage/packing. Create Gloucestershire have subsidised and free arts award places if the cost is a barrier, find out more on their website.
