Reclaimed Balance by Christine Ginda
As people today stay at home
wild animals begin to roam.
The quiet streets, devoid of crowds,
encourage them to remove the shrouds
of their rural habitats and haunts,
and use our gardens like restaurants.
Goats and rabbits, fox and deer,
join herons and badgers coming here,
to claim their territory back,
or simply visit for a snack.
These animals are not invaders,
nor are they merely garden raiders,
they are showing us they own this land
as much as us, if we'd just understand.
It shouldn't be a case of us and them,
we shouldn't animals condemn,
they are showing us how things could be
if we'd only learn to live in harmony.
