I’m on a fast racetrack and can’t get off no time to spare,
Rushing around foot on the throttle sometimes hard to bare.
Never enough time, just a few more minutes as we all say,
Suddenly brakes were slammed on, time stood still that day.
Our world was turned upside down and things would never be the same,
This deadly virus took over the world, but who was to blame?
Invisible enemy infecting and spreading faster each day,
No cure, no vaccine taking our love ones on the way.
Time to sit and think, here a prisoner in my home,
Sadness, fear, anxiety, lockdown makes me feel alone.
As days pass the tunnel holds a shimmer of brightness,
Can we help in any way? So many acts of kindness.
Calm and silent with only the sound of the whistling breeze,
Hearing beautiful bird songs echoing thoughout the trees.
Our brave frontline heroes fighting this deadly enemy every week,
Our small gesture of appreciation is by clapping on our streets.
Seeing loved ones through screens, No hugs and kisses can be sad,
Be patient we’re told just wait, the good times will out way the bad.
So this path remains uneven, we may stumble and fall,
As long as we have each other we can beat this all.
Living in this new way while the virus remains,
Life has its own way of taking on the strains.
