As a Respiratory specialist, I’m aware of the vital importance of air quality on all aspects of health, so I do what I can to improve my impact on air pollution and emissions. I cycle to and from work (and pretty much everywhere…), from Cheltenham to Gloucester, and have switched my diesel car for an electric one (though as a single car household we only use this twice or three times a month). I have partnered with the Clean Air group in Cheltenham to promote awareness of air quality and its impacts on health.
To reduce energy demands, we have, as a household, turned down thermostats to 17C, which has saved huge amounts on energy bills, and would have saved carbon and emissions were we not with a clean energy provider. We have also installed solar panels, which I appreciate is not something available to all.
We have, for some years, done what we can to grow our own produce, and eat meat only once or twice a week. Climate impacts are something on my mind when doing the weekly shop.
